2009 Demonstration School Project
Overview

Pre-K-5, 6-8, 9-12 Fact Sheet
The Summer Demonstration Schools will provide a venue for core and elective teachers to model clear, effective, instructional strategies and for students to experience hands-on, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning. The Summer Demonstration Schools will engage students in meaningful writing experiences, increase their critical thinking skills, and prepare them for the rigors of the global economy of the 21st century.

Dates: June 22, 2009 to July 24, 2009

According to Michael Fullan, “You can not improve learning for all or most students without improving learning for all or most teachers.” All organizations must develop the capacity to learn in order to improve. The inquiry process provides not only a research-based approach for improving student learning, but also a vehicle for educators to enhance their roles as learners who collaborate and design learning based on student performance data. As a result, the following instructional and learning strategies will be employed by teachers and students.
