The Specialized Programs - Schools of Choice application has a new look and new process for 2007-2008. Some of the new features include:
- All school programs for all grade levels are listed on a single application.
- You can apply for up to five different school programs on a single application form.
- All applications should be submitted to the Specialized Programs - Schools of Choice office for processing.
- The online forms are fill able or can be printed and completed offline.
- A single recommendation form that can contain up to five schools can be downloaded for you to submit to the Schools you choose to apply for ( some schools require a school-specific form, so please check with the individual schools you choose for further information).
In order to insure the timely entry of your application into the selection process, it is important to follow the directions provided on the application for and fill out the requested information completely.
Some items that can delay the processing of your application include:
- Failure to provide the student ID number - If your student is not presently enrolled in a Miami-Dade County Public School, you should contact the Miami-Dade County Public School in your neighborhood to get a temporary identification number issued.
- Selecting more than five (5) schools.
- Listing an address that is different than the one presently registered - If you have moved, contact your neighborhood MDCPS to find out the process to correct your address prior to submitting your application.
It is recommended you check with the Choice schools you are interested in for any additional requirements they may have for their programs including auditions, interviews, or program-specific requirements they may have. It is recommended that you first contact the school ( the phone numbers are listed in the school information on our web site or at www.dadeschools.net.
